Our story

It began with spare rooms and open doors

Maadino was never a business plan. It began years ago, in a university flat, with spare rooms and strangers who became friends.

Green residential street in Maadi

Back in my university years, I started renting out the other rooms of my flat. What I thought was a way to share costs became something else entirely — a journey into other cultures, other stories, other ways of seeing the world. Every guest who crossed that doorstep left something behind: a recipe, a phrase in a language I didn't speak, a friendship that outlasted the stay.

Somewhere along the way, between shared dinners and late-night conversations, I realised I was learning as much about myself as about the people I hosted. Hosting stopped being a side thing. It became a calling — a way to travel without leaving home, and to make sure that anyone far from their own home could feel, even for a few nights, that they had one here.

That is what Maadino is built on. Every apartment we prepare, every welcome we write, every corner of Maadi we share with our guests carries that same promise: you are not a booking number here. You are a guest in our home, and we want you to feel it the moment you walk in.

Ahlan wa sahlan — welcome to Maadino. Welcome home.
